Supervision of Children in Cyberspace

Children nowadays growing faster in the presence of mobile and internet. Those unstoppable technological advances makes the parents should be more wise in supervising their children while using the latest technology. Here are tips for supervise children in using mobile phones, computers and the Internet.
1. Be a friend on facebook
The first way, make a deal with your child that if he wanted to create a facebook account he must be friends with you as parents. This rule can not be negotiated. If a child wants to create a facebook account, then they must agree with these rules.
2. Parents Association
Form an associations with other parents of children who are friendly with your child. That way, you will know more about your child’s friends parents and the level of their responsibilities towards children. Remember that the fruit does not fall far from the tree.
3. Computers in open space
Psychologically, the child will show the attitude of an awkward and insecure if parents can freely see what they were doing at the computer, especially if she opened a strange site. If online using a laptop, create a rule to not surf in the bedroom, so you can still control the activities of children on the internet.
4. Keep watch
Adverse events such as acts of harassment via the internet does not only happen in facebook. Try to watch the pictures were posted of children, what they read on the internet, what they tweet or retweet, and what they see on youtube.
5. Check the phone
If possible check your child cell phone at random. Check the photos and videos what is in it. Your child will show signs of suspicious if there is unusual image, unusual video, or a unusual message. The children will try to resist if their parents want to see the contents of the cell phone.
6. Time restriction
Make a time restriction to use mobile phones, internet, and computers. The time restriction will be useful to make the children spend some more for positive activities such as learning and social interaction with people around.
7. Free days
Make a free day from mobile phones, computers and the Internet. Fill the day with family outings, swimming, playing in the yard or vacation together. Thus the children does not have an addiction to mobile phones, computers and the Internet.
